Bad Hair Day? Try Bad Hair Decade
Updated: Apr 17
Blah blah blah body positivity… as great as it as it is and no matter how hard we try there is always something that we aren’t happy with. For me, it’s my hair.
Once upon a time I had a gorgeous head of long, thick, shiny brown locks and then kids happened. The wonderful post partum rollercoaster of things that change after giving birth. Not only do many of us have to cross our legs when we sneeze and pray that we won’t pee, we are constantly plucking pesky chin hairs and dealing with the changes to our bodies.
Despite those ankle biter issues, the one that was a big deal for me was the excessive hair loss after giving birth to my oldest son. I kid you not, I lost half of my hair within a few months. Not only has my hair thinned out, it is ultra fine and lifeless. I have so much difficulty styling it and making it look half decent that I pretty much sport a perma-ponytail. I have major hair envy when I see other women around me with gorgeous hair and I am ever so desperate to restore my own.

How hair loss happens:
As we age, the growth phase (anagen) can shorten due to decreased levels of IGF-1 and microRNA31. As hair moves into the resting phase more quickly, it causes excess shedding and thinning of the hair. Also with ag
e, our hormone levels change which often results in increased levels of DHT which can damage the derma papillae resulting in inflammation, reduced circulation and follicle miniaturization.
Another cause of hair-loss is stress & lack of sleep… that’s right kids, I’m giving you the stare down. Anxiety and poor sleep can cause cortisol levels to spike which in turn can cause hair to prematurely exit the anagen phase and enter into the shedding phase.
Poor nutrition can also cause hair loss. A diet that is low in zinc, iron, Vitamin A, B6 & B12, C, D, E, biotin, folic acid and natural collagen boosters play a roll in hair thinning and loss.
Here’s one you probably haven’t thought of, nor did I to be honest. Haircare that contains synthetic chemicals, fragrances and silicones can damage & dehydrate hair while clogging pores, irritating the scalp and inhibiting healthy sebum production.

I never got into hair serums or supplements as I had difficulty believing that they could yield noticeable results and that they were just a money pit that you threw your hard eared dollars into.
When Vegamour reached out to me I took my time to research the brand, their products and read through customer testimonials and pics. I was pleased to read so many success stories and said to myself, ok I definitely need to try these products for myself.
The brand kindly gifted me with a huge box of different products for me to try out (see pic for this amazing PR pack).
So friends, I am embarking on a new hair growth / care journey as of today. I’ll be posting before and afters to my Instagram page so be sure to head over there and check it out.
